Göteborg-based artist Linda Vagnelind has captivated international audiences through her appearance in "Abenteuer Schweden", a stunning two-part documentary series produced by renowned German filmmaker J. Michael Schumacher for ARTE – one of Europe's most respected cultural television channels.
Broadcasting to millions of viewers across Germany and France, ARTE has long been celebrated for its exceptional cultural programming and high-quality documentaries. Schumacher chose Linda as a compelling example of Sweden's creative spirit for this exploration of southern Sweden's remarkable people and landscapes.
The art of VAGNELIND can be found around the world, in both public and private collections. Driven by a deep fascination with people, her signature style combines attitude and presence in large-scale paintings, where she paints characters and their stories with wide brushes and thick layers of oil paint, balancing on the edge between 2D and 3D.
In 1999, she left her career as a designer and moved to Australia to develop her painting at RMIT University in Melbourne. In 2005, she settled in Pinghu, China, to deepen her practice in black ink drawing under Master Kuan-yin.
Beyond art, VAGNELIND is driven by ice and snow, water in all its forms — and the raw energy of adventures in nature. She is an expert in cold bathing, co-author of the bestselling book "KALLA BAD", and an ice sculptor for the world-famous ICEHOTEL, where she has created several acclaimed suites.
In "Abenteuer Schweden," Linda's segments offer intimate glimpses into her creative life: canoeing through Göteborg's archipelago, demonstrating transformative cold water bathing rituals, revealing her vibrant studio, and sculpting two magnificent polar ice bears at the ICEHOTEL.
This unique intersection of art, adventure, and personal storytelling has drawn growing international media attention from TV4, Wings Magazine, and other outlets. From creating 15 portraits for Eurovision to pioneering Sweden's cold bathing movement, Linda's creative courage knows no bounds.
Now, Luxury Travel Sweden offers exclusive access to Linda's creative world through a transformative Cold Bath & Painting Workshop.
